Don Pedro Martinez Forero moves from his humble birth town of Chiquinquirá to the Capital city of Bogota. He begins with several business like a café shop called “El Globo” and a bowling alley called “Bolos Ayacucho”. Don Pedro alongside his wife and kids begin to do testing on formulas to make Sabayon from recipes that come from Italy. After many failed attempts in the kitchen of his house, they finally came up with the delicious artisanal recipe of Sabajón Apolo. The name Apolo, narrates Don Pedro, come from the inspiration of mans will of going to the moon with the Apolo missions. It is clear that Don Pedro always dreams to conquer the impossible.
CASA APOLO, previously known in the market as Sabajón Apolo S.A., starts producing and commercializing the best creams and aperitives that are principally based upon artisanal recipes and the quality in which each bottle is produced in its factory in the Capital City. Faithfully to its traditions, Apolo continues to bring joy and happiness to families and loves promoting proudly Colombian flavors.
The licensing procedures begging with the ministry of public health. On July 2 1958, before that same ministry and through resolution No. 619 the operating license was granted to make and sell the Apolo Cream Ponche.
SABy resolution No. 001 January 10, 1959, the government of Cundinamarca grants a license to Mister Pedro A Martinez to produce and sell. In 1958, mister Jaime Martinez Quintero, second son of Don Pedro y Doña Lucia, was appointed General Manager. With deed No. 2046 of May 20, 1968, 10th notary of Bogota, the company Sabajón Apolo Ltda is stablished.
In 1986, Casa Apolo explored new lines by successfully launching the Piña Colada Tahití® into the Colombian market. This brand has since maintained market leadership in this product category. During this same period, the company transformed into SABAJÓN APOLO
With greater knowledge of the market, during 1996 San Marino Coffee Cream was launched. During this period, Makro a grocery store of Venezuela hires Sabajón Apolo SA to manufacture a product for their exclusive sale. The first export is performed. Also, during this period the production plant was expanded.
Sabajón Apolo continues to develop its lines with new products, such as Whisley’s whiskey cream
The last export is made to Venezuela due to the political situation in that country.
After 45 years of dedication and hard work, Mr. Jaime Martinez Quintero, son of Don Pedro, made the decision to retire. Thus, advancing the succession of the second generation of CASA APOLO.
The corporate image of SABAJÓN APOLO S.A. undergoes a transformation, along with the presentation of its products in innovative packaging and exclusive design that includes the Braille system on our bottles, making them more inclusive for the visually impaired population. Thus, Casa Apolo becomes a pioneer in product accessibility. Similarly, it transforms its labels, providing a modern, attractive, and innovative design by incorporating QR codes, aligning with new market trends and technology. During this period, product diversification includes Cream with Anise Flavor®, Chocolate Cream®, Passion Fruit Cream®, and Rum Flavored Cream®.
